Support you will receive

Our trustees play a vital role in making sure that Salusbury World achieves its core purpose. They oversee the overall strategy, finance and governance of the charity. They also ensure that Salusbury World has a clear strategy and that our work and goals are in line with our vision. Just as important, they support and challenge the executive team to enable Salusbury World to grow and thrive, and through this, achieve our mission.

Why these skills are required

We are looking for people willing to bring energy, enthusiasm and commitment to the role, and who will broaden the diversity of thinking and expertise on our board. You should have a clear understanding of the legal duties of Trusteeship and some experience working at a strategic governance level. Previous Board experience is not mandatory but would be an advantage. We’re open to applications from anyone with relevant senior level experience, but we are particularly interested in hearing from those with the following experience: - Governance in a small charity - Local Authority or Public Sector - Social Welfare / Welfare Advice Services - Fundraising and Events - Small charity or business leader - Finance director or Board Level experience - Organisational development Personal skills and qualities - Willingness and ability to understand and accept their responsibilities and liabilities as trustees and to act in the best interests of the organisation. - An understanding of charity governance and the legal duties, responsibilities and liabilities of a Trustee - Relevant and demonstrable experience in the voluntary sector or transferrable skills from the public or private sector - Ability to think creatively and strategically, exercise good, independent judgement and work effectively as a board member. - Effective communication skills and willingness to participate actively in discussion. - A strong personal commitment to equity, diversity and inclusion. - Enthusiasm for our vision and mission. - Willingness to lead according to our values. - The ability to work effectively as a member of a team

Time Commitment

*Attending 1 Board meetings per quarter. Currently meetings are more frequent and held via zoom, but we are looking to have a mixture of in-person and zoom meetings going forward *Attending details of annual strategy / training days *Attending ad-hoc fundraising events approximately 1 per quarter *Ad-hoc networking with local community to forge partnerships and develop relationships with potential funders We expect that the above commitment will be approximately 10 hours per month. Initially the role may require an increased commitment.
