Role Detail

Description

Get involved in this monthly after-school workshop for families living with parental mental illness. Workshops take place on the 2nd Monday of every month except for August when there is no workshop. Volunteers will support the project team to deliver the workshops and will be involved in welcoming families, setting up and joining in group activities and general administrative duties such as preparing food and setting up filming equipment.

Why these skills are required

Volunteers need to be personable, willing to join in (often physical) games and comfortable with others sharing their experiences and feelings on sensitive issues. Please note, a CV will also be required for this role.

What is in it for you

Volunteers will gain experience in facilitating groups for families affected by mental illness. Depending on the interest and experience of the volunteer, the role can include supporting the drama facilitator in running drama and creative activities with the children or supporting the mental health lead in facilitating the parent group.

Time Commitment

Workshops take place one Monday evening per month, usually on the 2nd Monday of the month and Volunteers are asked to attend approximately 4:30pm to 8pm. Volunteers are welcome to attend workshops for as long as they are able to commit.
