Description

London Jaguars are dedicated to promoting physical activity and sportsmanship within our community. Our multi-sports programme is designed to introduce participants to a variety of sports, encouraging physical fitness, teamwork, and a love for athletics. We are seeking enthusiastic and skilled volunteers to join us as Multi-Sports Coaches to help lead and inspire our participants. Project Description: The Multi-Sports Coach will play a key role in delivering high-quality sports sessions to children and young people. This position involves planning and leading activities across a range of sports (e.g. football, basketball, rounders), fostering an inclusive and positive environment where all participants can develop their skills and enjoy the benefits of physical activity. Volunteer’s Main Tasks: - Session Planning: Develop and organize engaging sports sessions that cover a variety of sports, ensuring they are age-appropriate and cater to different skill levels. - Coaching and Instruction: Lead sports sessions, providing clear instructions, demonstrations, and feedback to participants to help them improve their skills. - Safety and Supervision: Ensure the safety and well-being of all participants during sessions, maintaining a safe playing environment and adhering to safety guidelines. - Motivation and Encouragement: Foster a positive and supportive atmosphere, encouraging participants to enjoy sports, build confidence, and work as a team. - Administrative Duties: Assist with session setup and cleanup, keep attendance records, and provide feedback to the program coordinator on session outcomes and participant progress. Who You Will Be Volunteering With: Volunteers will work alongside other coaches, program coordinators, and support staff. Collaboration with fellow volunteers and staff members is essential to create a cohesive and effective coaching environment. What skills are required for this role

Why these skills are required

Skills: - Coaching Skills: Experience or knowledge in coaching multiple sports, with the ability to plan and deliver engaging and effective sessions. You do NOT need to be a qualified Sports Coach. - Communication: Strong verbal communication skills to clearly instruct and motivate participants, and interact with parents and other staff. - Organisation: Ability to organize and manage sessions efficiently, including preparation, execution, and post-session activities. Abilities: - Adaptability: Flexibility to adjust coaching methods and activities based on the age, skill level, and needs of participants. - Teamwork: Ability to work collaboratively with other coaches, volunteers, and staff to create a supportive coaching environment. - Leadership: Capacity to lead by example, demonstrating sportsmanship, discipline, and a positive attitude. - Problem-Solving: Ability to address and resolve any issues or conflicts that arise during sessions quickly and effectively. Personal Qualities: - Enthusiasm: Passionate about sports and enthusiastic about teaching and inspiring children and young people. - Patience and Empathy: Patient and empathetic towards participants, understanding their needs and encouraging their development. - Reliability: Dependable and committed to the role, consistently showing up for scheduled sessions and fulfilling duties responsibly. - Positive Attitude: Maintain a positive and encouraging demeanor, fostering a fun and inclusive environment for all participants. - Cultural Awareness: Sensitivity and respect for cultural diversity, ensuring an inclusive environment for participants from various backgrounds.

Time Commitment

This is during the school holidays: Summer, Christmas and Easter. We are currently recruiting volunteers for the Summer holidays - 5th to 24th August. The volunteer shift is 10am - 12pm, Monday to Friday. You will volunteer for at least one shift per week, but ideally more than one.
