Description

London Jaguars are committed to promoting health and wellness within our community through physical activity and fitness education. Our fitness program aims to encourage individuals of all ages and fitness levels to adopt healthier lifestyles. We are looking for enthusiastic and knowledgeable volunteers to join our team as Fitness Coaches to help lead and inspire our participants. Project Description: As a Fitness Coach, you will be responsible for delivering fitness sessions designed to improve participants’ overall health and fitness levels. This role involves planning and leading various fitness activities, providing guidance and support, and creating a motivating environment that encourages participants to achieve their fitness goals. Volunteer’s Main Tasks: - Session Planning: Develop and organize fitness sessions that are appropriate for various age groups and fitness levels, ensuring they are safe and effective. - Coaching and Instruction: Lead fitness sessions, demonstrating exercises, providing clear instructions, and offering modifications as needed. - Safety and Supervision: Ensure the safety and well-being of all participants, maintaining a safe environment and adhering to safety guidelines during fitness activities. - Motivation and Encouragement: Foster a positive and supportive atmosphere, encouraging participants to push themselves and stay committed to their fitness goals. Who You Will Be Volunteering With: Volunteers will collaborate with other fitness coaches, program coordinators, and support staff. This role encourages teamwork and mutual support to create an effective and enjoyable fitness program. What skills are required for this role

Why these skills are required

Skills - Fitness Training: You do NOT need to be a qualified Fitness Instructor, but knowledge of fitness training, principles and techniques, with the ability to design and deliver effective fitness programmes would be useful. - Exercise Demonstration: Ability to demonstrate exercises correctly and safely, ensuring participants understand proper form and technique. - Communication: Strong verbal communication skills to clearly instruct and motivate participants, and effectively interact with other staff and volunteers. Abilities: - Adaptability: Flexibility to adjust fitness routines and exercises based on participants' varying fitness levels, ages, and abilities. - Leadership: Capability to lead groups with confidence, providing direction, motivation, and support to participants. - Organszation: Ability to organize and manage fitness sessions efficiently, including preparation, execution, and follow-up activities. - Teamwork: Ability to work collaboratively with other coaches, volunteers, and staff to create a cohesive and supportive fitness environment. - Problem-Solving: Ability to quickly and effectively address and resolve any issues or challenges that arise during fitness sessions. Personal Qualities: - Passion for Fitness: A genuine enthusiasm for fitness and wellness, with a desire to inspire and help others achieve their health goals. - Patience and Empathy: Patience and understanding towards participants, particularly those who are new to fitness or have specific needs. - Reliability: Dependable and committed to the role, consistently showing up for scheduled sessions and fulfilling responsibilities reliably. - Positive Attitude: Maintain a positive and encouraging demeanor, creating an enjoyable and motivating environment for all participants. - Cultural Awareness: Sensitivity and respect for cultural diversity, ensuring an inclusive environment for participants from various backgrounds.

Time Commitment

This is during the school holidays: Summer, Christmas and Easter. We are currently recruiting volunteers for the Summer holidays - 5th to 24th August. The volunteer shift is 10am - 12pm, Monday to Friday. You will volunteer for at least one shift per week, but ideally more than one.
