Description

Beyond the Streets works with women to end sexual exploitation and create routes out of prostitution. We are recruiting Outreach Volunteers for our Door of Hope project. Tasks will include: • Making initial contact with women working on the agreed outreach route in Tower Hamlets. • Providing women with practical support and advice around issues relating to health, personal safety and wellbeing. • Providing hospitality, offering hot drinks and snacks to women during outreach. • Maintaining accurate records of the details of women engaged on your outreach route for Beyond the Streets monitoring purposes. • Providing peer support and back up to other volunteers in the team. • Taking part in regular volunteer supervision sessions, as well as quarterly trainings and team meetings. • Proactively engaging with external pastoral support. Ideally, you will be available for Thursday morning and Friday evening outreach sessions at least once a month, ideally twice monthly. You should be able to volunteer for a minimum period of 18 months. Closing date for applications is 9am on 26th August 2024. Interviews will be held on 9th September Volunteering takes place only on Thursday mornings and Friday evenings.

Why these skills are required

• Commitment to the vision, mission, ethos and values of Beyond the Streets. • Undergo training for volunteers around Safeguarding and Drugs. • Empathy for Door of Hope’s client group, an understanding of the issue of prostitution and the effects it can have on those involved, as well as an understanding of violence against women. • An ability to build trusting relationships whilst maintaining personal boundaries. • Able to work well within a team with excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Willingness to work collaboratively with a range of external organisations. • Be responsible, reliable and consistent. • Be available to attend induction and training sessions. Dates vary according to volunteering role. • A commitment to reflective practice – taking good care of yourself, contributing to team or 1-1 supervision. • An openness to learning and working together. • Availability to attend team training - 4 to 5 events a year usually on a Monday evening.
