FoodCycle runs community meals. People are invited to come and sit around a table and enjoy a hot, nutritious meal, served with warmth and dignity, by friendly volunteers in a welcoming environment. This weekly community dining service not only helps tackle food poverty, but also helps alleviate loneliness by bringing the community together. Join us at FoodCycle in Bow Road every Friday evening to cook and distribute delicious, vegetarian meals for the local community. We have opportunities available for volunteers to come along and either cook food or host guests. You don’t need any previous cooking experience, although if you do have some that is just as welcome! We want as many local volunteers as possible and everyone is welcome to be a part of the team! The volunteering session runs on Friday evenings from 5pm to 9pm for the cooking team, and from 6pm to 9pm for the hosting team. You can volunteer as much or as little as you like!
Volunteers do not need any specific experience or skills - just a good attitude and wanting to get stuck in! We’re looking for passionate people who want to make a difference to their local community.
Leadership, community, social skills, kitchen skills, teamwork.
Sessions are on Friday evenings and last either 4 hours (5pm-9pm for the cooking team) or 3 hours (6pm-9pm for the hosting team). Volunteer for as many Fridays as you like.
