Description

Poplar HARCA is a Housing and Regeneration Community Association in East London that provides homes and support to residents. Our goal is to create a thriving environment for people, communities, and businesses. We offer health and wellbeing activities across 14 community buildings and three cafes. As a Volunteer Photographer, you’ll support the marketing and communication outputs of Poplar HARCA’s social arm – Communities and Neighbourhood – with visually engaging photographs to use on social media and in print. You’ll be on hand to snap various community-facing events/activities/projects, working to a brief. You are welcome to use your own camera or our in-house equipment: Canon E0S 80, 18-55 mm lens and tripod Canon E0S M10 + Polarised lens filter, 44mm ESDDI camera light and two other portable lights DJI Om 5 smartphone stabiliser Wireless lav mic Description of tasks: - Representing Poplar HARCA to its visitors, promoting a friendly and welcoming atmosphere - Photographing events or projects and activities and editing images - Promoting the programme of events at Poplar Union - Volunteering alongside other volunteers and members of staff - Undertaking any other reasonable duties - Adhering to Poplar HARCA’s policies and procedures Ideally, we would like volunteers to spare some time Monday – Saturday (flexible), between 10am and 4pm.

What skills are required for this role

Why these skills are required

- Educational backround or experience in photography – amateur or professional - Genuine interest in film and photography - Interest in community work and who wants to support our mission to empower, educate and bring people together - The ability to build rapport with supporters and volunteers - Creativity and initiative to take the best possible shots - Ability to take direction where necessary from Poplar HARCA staff - Lots of enthusiasm - Reliability and punctuality - Videography work would be an added bonus - Minimum 4-month commitment All volunteers are required to complete an application form, attend an informal interview and give two referee’s details. You may also be required to undertake a criminal record check which we will pay for. If successful your volunteer role will begin with a 1 month trial period.

Time Commitment

Ideally, we would like volunteers to spare some time Monday – Saturday (flexible) between 10am- 4pm, with a minimum commitment of 4-months.
