Role Detail

Description

Healthwatch Sutton is the local voice for patients and users of care services. We're looking for people to become trustees and help provide strategic direction for our work. Could you help manage the organisation, working with staff to develop our long-term plans? You need to live or work in Sutton. Healthwatch Sutton is a small charity which listens to local people's experiences of health and care services, and seeks to make sure that those experiences make services better. In the last two years we've reported on local issues with dentistry services, Long Covid, the cost of living and the mental wellbeing of primary school children. We're planning projects around access to GP services, maternity services, and the care that people receive at home. We're looking for trustees who can help direct the long-term strategy of Healthwatch Sutton. You'll work with other trustees and paid staff to manage the organisation, including developing an annual strategy. You'll need to engage with local people about what Healthwatch does. You'll need to understand charity law and your responsibilities (training can be provided). You need to have communication and decision-making skills, and be able to work as part of a team. You'll need to be able to use Office software, the internet and email, and to use online meeting platforms like Zoom (training can be provided). You'll need to commit to attending a meeting each month, either at our offices in Sutton or online. You'll also need to read papers to prepare for them, and attend a small number of additional meetings. Trustees are appointed for an initial term of three years. If interested, please contact Pete Flavell at pete@healthwatchsutton.org.uk or 07726 543 440, saying you found out about the role through Volunteer Centre Sutton.
