Description

Offer companionship and conversation to isolated older people in Sutton, and empower them to gain a social and support network they can connect with, or to settle back at home after a stay in hospital. Are you looking to volunteer with older people in your local area ? Do you have some time to spare to help an older person who is feeling lonely? This could be a role for you if you have at least 2 hours free per week? ABOUT THE ROLE: - Provide wellbeing check-ins to isolated older people (from 1 up to 8 months). - Empower clients to gain a social and support network they can connect with, or to settle back at home after a stay in hospital. - Offer companionship and conversation over the phone or in person. - Conduct evaluation interviews with clients, volunteers and older Sutton residents to ensure their views and experiences are heard. - Submit feedback forms and pass on any questions or concerns. - Participate in supervisions as well as learning and development. - Minimum commitment: From 1 hour per week, depending on activity. DOES THIS SOUND LIKE YOU? - Warm and friendly manner. - Excellent communication skills and enjoy talking to people. - Comfortable using the phone and have basic IT skills. - Able to listen with patience and empathy, without judgement. - Able to commit to a set period of time if matched with a client. - Can offer reliability and commitment to the values and policies of Age UK Sutton, including holding appropriate boundaries, and understanding confidentiality and safeguarding (training provided).
