Our trustees play a vital role in making sure that St Mary’s Secret Garden achieves its core purpose. Specific roles include: Overseeing the overall management and administration of the charity. Ensure that we have a clear strategy and that our work and goals are in line with our charitable objectives. • Approve operational strategies and policies and monitor and evaluate their implementation. • Oversee our financial plans and budgets • Contribute to the broader promotion of St Mary’s Secret Garden’s objects, aims and reputation by applying your skills, expertise, knowledge and contacts.
Trustees need to be over 18 years of age. Not barred from holding a trustee role. No unspent convictions.
Develop team skills. Increase knowledge of the community and voluntary sector and how the develop wellbeing initiatives. Increase knowledge of managing finances and budgets.
Trustee meetings are held every 2 months or occasionally monthly if there are issues needing urgent discussions. Meetings usually last for an hour and a half. An Annual General Meeting is held lasting longer approx. 2 hrs Trustees are encouraged to be involved with open days and events at the garden. Trustees can also use their skills and knowledge to support and develop the charity and its work - so they can also give more time to us.
