The primary purpose of the CFAV is to assist in the development of young people as Individuals and active citizens by providing safe and rewarding training, direction and guidance. The secondary purposes of a CFAV are: Maintain the Sea Cadet Corps (SCC) values, Assist the Unit Training Officer (UTO) to deliver a varied training programme in line with the Sea Cadet Experience. Safely and securely maintain the unit’s resources and equipment.
Our instructors are required to teach sessions from the Sea Cadet Training Program. The SCC provide all required training to deliver this through our centrally run and organised courses. Instructors may also wish to deliver additional sessions such as boating disciplines or adventurous training. Qualification to deliver these can also be provided through the SCC.

Volunteers must be available for Wednesday evening sessions (ran 1900-2130) and the occasional Sunday session (0900-1300). They may also need to make themselves available for weekend training courses both for cadet and personal development.
