Description

Be Active is a programme where volunteers are matched one-to-one with a 60+ adult to support their rehabilitation exercises at home and in the community for up to 9 sessions. The Be Active Project aims to enable a person to increase their independence and connection to their community. Within the role you will support and motivate the client to follow their exercise plan and, through a series of 9 sessions, help build their confidence. You will be provided with valuable support and training from Open Age and the NHS rehab team. Time commitment: 2 hours/week

Why these skills are required

You will be supporting people to do walking support or their exercises in doors so empathy, patience and motivating skills. Enjoying helping and chatting with others. Its one to one support to motivate someone to keep up with their physio exercises.

What is in it for you

You get very useful training. Many of our volunteers are looking for a career change or medical students needed on the ground experience. We also have volunteers who are retired who wanted to support others and have interesting conversations whilst out having a stroll. We have others who work part-time and have an interest and want to get involved.

Time Commitment

one to two hours a week (excludes travel time - but we try and match close to you unless you do not mind)
