Role Detail

Description

LEAH provides 1:1 English lessons to refugees, asylum seekers and migrants. LEAH supports students who live in the Hounslow, Richmond and Kingston boroughs although you do not have to live in these boroughs to volunteer with us as we also offer lessons remotely using Zoom. No teaching experience is needed - we offer an online training course as well as support from our experienced team.

Why these skills are required

• A good level of spoken and written English • Strong communication and organisational skills • Patience to support our students who have a diverse range of educational backgrounds • Previous experience in ESOL tutoring or teaching can be an advantage but is not required as full training is provided

Time Commitment

Two hours a week maximum- an hour for a lesson plus some time planning and preparing. Tutoring can take place term time only if that is preferable for the volunteer.
