Would you like to be part of team that helps to reduce food waste and provides healthy low cost food to your local community? The Real Junk Food Project have recently opened a new community café and surplus food hub in Ham Youth Centre on Tuesday lunchtimes. We are looking to expand our team of drivers, cooks and café volunteers. Our drivers save food from supermarkets and local businesses that would otherwise have gone to landfill and our café volunteers cook and serve tasty and nutritious meals. Any food that isn't used for cooking is available for visitors to take home from our surplus food hub. We are open to everyone and offer the service on a pay as you feel basis.
Driver - Our drivers will require a UK driving licence and their own car. Cooks - No professional cooking experience needed, just a passion for food! We offer free food hygiene training for all our chefs
You will be joining a friendly team of people passionate about reducing food waste as well as helping to reduce food insecurity in the local community.
Volunteers are onsite ~9am - 2:30pm however you can do do a partial shift. We setup and cook from 9am-11:30, Serve from 11:30-13:30 and then pack down. We are open every Tuesday and ask that volunteers can typically commit to at least 2 weeks per month.
