Can you help us build community through creativity? Orleans House Gallery is situated in wooded parkland on Twickenham Riverside. Our volunteer gardening team look after a variety of beds located within the rounds, as well as supporting tasks in the woodland ecosystem and other areas of the site. Tasks and Responsibilities - Working as a team to maintain the gallery beds, with weeding, pruning and watering - Learning and applying new horticultural skills - Maintaining Arts Service gardening tools and equipment - Supporting with tasks identified within our Ecosystem Plan - Representing the Gallery and Richmond Arts Service
Desirable qualities and experience - Enthusiasm for gardening - A willingness to learn more about gardening, horticulture and/or grounds maintenance - Physically fit due to the nature of the tasks involved - Enjoys being part of a team - Ability to complete tasks independently
What we hope you will get from the role - Valuable experience of gardening with a team of passionate and knowledgeable volunteers - An increased knowledge of horticulture and grounds management - The opportunity to meet new people and engage with the local community Training and Support Our team is led by a volunteer with over 50 years’ experience in horticulture, who guides the team and provides information and support on the flora onsite. We have a variety of tools onsite available for use by the team, although we ask you to bring your own gardening gloves and secateurs. On-going support and supervision are available from staff. There are also opportunities to engage with the wider activities offered by Richmond Art Service through a varied programme of volunteer events and activities to join in, meet people and learn something new!
