Description

What You'll Do? Mentors for women will empower women with children aged 5+ to overcome challenging circumstances and help them find ways to make social connections and integrate with their local community and groups, referring and signposting them to other organisations if needed. Through encouragement and active listening, you will support your mentees’ mental wellbeing, by providing a safe space to discuss the challenges faced. Being trained in positive psychology and coaching style techniques, you will support your mentee to help them achieve their goals and get them where they want to be. What You'll Learn? Through our comprehensive training and ongoing support, you will develop skills in positive psychology and coaching style techniques to effectively support your mentee to making steps towards positive change, gaining transferable skills relevant for personal and professional development, this includes but is not limited to team working, empathetic leadership, organisation, growth mindset and adaptive communication styles and approaches. What We're Looking For? There is no one size fits all, your individuality is what makes you unique! We welcome volunteers age 21+ from all backgrounds, with life experience, who are non-judgemental and will be committed to support other women on their journeys. We ask volunteers to commit to delivering mentoring 1–2-hour a week, over a period of 24 in person sessions. We welcome mentors over the age of 50, for our Women2Women: Sharing Wisdom, Sharing Lives sub programme. We Welcome
There is no one size fits all, your individuality is what makes you unique, we welcome volunteers from all backgrounds ages 18+ with life experience, who will be committed to help others on their journey to Unfold their full potential. People of colour and women aged 50+ are always in high demand! We asked our Youth Advisory Council what qualities they felt a mentor should have, and we couldn't agree more… • Open-minded: as a mentor you need to be mindful about what your mentee is feeling so they don’t feel like they’re being directed, or that the session is about you • Good listener: asking good questions, and being genuinely interested, so your mentee feels more welcome and cared for • Patient: having a mentor can feel strict at first, and mentees might need some time before getting into the flow of the sessions • Relatable: understanding your mentee’s interests or experiences and being able to share your experience with them
