We need a volunteer teacher for our community English Learning Group as part of the Together Better programme at Spring Hill Practice. We run free weekly groups and activities to help NHS patients in Hackney combat isolation and inactivity, develop new skills, and do interesting things with nice people in their area. We had a much-loved group for people who wanted to practice their English language skills and we’re looking for someone to take over as lead volunteer! You would be responsible for holding the conversation during the sessions, planning any activities you would like, and helping people practice their English skills in whatever way you all think best. You would be supported by Community Coordinator, Will, and the rest of our amazing volunteer team.
Competent speaking, reading, and writing in English. Able to manage group dynamics / lead group conversations and activities. Welcoming and friendly.
Regular support and supervision with a Community Engagement Coordinator to help you develop your skills. Experience running your own English class! Time spent with a lovely group of English learners and everyone else at Together Better Spring Hill.
Minimum 1½ hours weekly – with 1 hour minimum leading the class at a regular time.
