This summer we are looking for mentors for our latest programmes in September and October 2024. 1MM mentoring empowers young people to become the best version of themselves: building relationships - free of assumption and judgement - where they benefit from another’s experience and perspective and can think bigger, find their own answers and take the next meaningful step into their future. All we’ll ask you to do is complete online training and an online workshop, and then commit one hour, once a month, for up to a year.
If you’re working or retired, have five years general working experience or two years post-graduate working experience, you can mentor with us. Most of our mentors have one thing in common: they’re passionate about investing in young people. Mentoring is about creating a relationship and sharing experience to help them learn and achieve their potential. As a mentor you can inspire, support and motivate young people, raise their aspirations and encourage them to achieve their career goals. That doesn’t mean you need specialist knowledge or experience. We will train you. Listening and empathy are the most important skills. Can you understand the challenges a young person is facing and see things from their point of view? Can you offer advice or even just encouragement? If so, then you have what it takes to be a mentor. It only takes one mentor, one regular conversation, to change a life. You could be that one.
That’s simple – you’ll have the chance to use your experience and skills to help change a young person’s life. You’ll be giving something back that will really make a difference and 1MM will be with you every step of the way to support you while you do it.
