NGA Newington Green Alliance (NGA) is a small charity focused on building community and connection across differences and divisions in the areas of Hackney and Islington, London. The Community Outreach Team A key part of NGA's work involves building connections with organisations, groups, and individuals who live or work in the area. We want to invite these people and groups to be part of the larger aim of building strong, inclusive, resilient, and caring community. Specifically, this means... - Helping to focus NGA on the areas of greatest need - Guiding NGA to work in the ways that best benefit the community. - Working together for the best outcomes for the community - Learning together - Connecting and understanding one another In this volunteer role, you will be a member of the is a member of the Community Outreach Team. The team carries out activities including... - Forging personal connections - Making presentations - Arranging events - Representing NGA at events - Researching organisations - Demographic analysis - Preparation of informational content - Strategic planning As a member of the team, you will have opportunities to learn and participate in a variety of these activities providing you with a wide range of experiences and transferrable skills.
PERSON Excellent ability in preparing written communication High level of capability in using email, Facebook, and other digital communication modes. Experienced and capable at preparing presentations that are clear, informative, concise, and persuasive. Comfortable with in-person communication with individuals and groups. Facility in building connections with diverse people Works well with team-working. Self-motivated and seeks and finds ways through complexity, conflict, and obstacles. PRACTICAL Must be able to commit to at least 3 hours per week of mostly remote working Must be able to commit to at least 6 months of volunteering in this roll Most work will be remote but must be able to access Newington Green for occasional in-person interactions
The volunteer will gain experience in interacting with a wide variety of people in the local area. They will practice their skills in persuading, organising, and generating enthusiasm amongst members of the local community
