We have six busy charity shops across Barking, Dagenham, Hornchurch and Upminster. Each shop relies on teams of volunteers to keep us trading. Our Retail Assistants work with the shop manager to prepare goods for sale, create window dressings and displays, assist customers, operate the cash register and process Gift Aid donations, as well as carrying out general housekeeping and cleaning.
We are looking for people who are friendly, polite and respectful and enjoy engaging with our customers. You will need to be punctual and reliable and willing to learn new skills and get involved. You also need to be able to work individually as well as part of a team. Experience of shop work is beneficial, but not essential, as training is provided.
You will gain first-hand experience of working in a retail environment and understanding sales processes. You will also learn more about the charity sector. In addition, you will have an opportunity to build customer service and communication skills.
