Description

Seniors In Touch (SIT) is an exercise and lunch club for the over fifties. Our aim is to promote healthy living, reduce loneliness and social isolation in the over fifties. We hope to achieve this by providing a range of physical and emotional supportive activities that will meet their individual and group needs. We believe by doing this members will be encouraged to live independently longer, healthier and happier. You must be passionate about providing attention and support to members. You must be patient and compassionate enough to demonstrate these traits & relate with vulnerable older people from a wide variety of backgrounds. What you will be doing: - you will have to arrange chairs, tables and tidy up before and after every weekly session - you will work with the service coordinator to be a key role player in providing physical & mental stimulation and support for users during various activities at the centre - take part, with members, in activities both individually & as a group - promote users independence, choice, dignity & respect by delivering the best attention & support needed by members - prepare, serve & tidy up after refreshments/lunch as required - give emotional & practical support to members when needed. What you will need: - some experience in the social care support environment - excellent communication skills (writing & listening) & ability to work well as part of a dedicated team - be of a respectful, courteous & compassionate nature, & a willingness to undertake any aspects of support duties that comes up during each session - encourage users to use and improve on skills and abilities they have now; and motivate them to acquire new skills that will be beneficial for their independent living - a belief in giving your personal best at all times and striving for continuous improvement through available learning opportunities within the borough.
