Description

Love Soup Café Assistant/Commis Chef - Assisting in basic meal prep and cooking soup/fresh food. Assist in the preparation of fresh food for approximately 100 people on a Thursday from 10-12am at Broadwater Village Hall Goosander Way, West Thamesmead SE28 0ER. Tasks will include: - Support in the preparation, cooking and serving of food. - Accept delegated responsibilities from Chef. - Work as part of a team with other volunteer staff. - Ensure preparation area, utensils and surfaces are clean. - Check out of date food and ensure safe storage of ingredients. - Comply with all Health and Safety regulations in the kitchen area. - Have current Food Hygiene certification (level 2) - Identify and display allergen information. - Attend Thursday from 10:00am on a rota or timeshare the role. When unavailable inform volunteer coordinator as soon as possible to arrange cover.

Why these skills are required

Assisting in meal prep and soup cooking for up to 100 people including: - Prepare and cook food under supervision of chef - Measures, mixes, and prepares meal ingredients, sauces, and seasonings - Washes, chops, and cuts fruit, meat, and vegetable items - Plates meal items for guests/volunteers - Disposes of spoiled items and adheres to sanitation policies. - Ensure preparation area, utensils and surfaces are clean. - Check out of date food and ensure safe storage of ingredients. - Comply with all Health and Safety regulations in the kitchen area. - Have current Food Hygiene certification (level 2) - Identify and display allergen information. - Monitors kitchen equipment and reports issues to superiors

Time Commitment

This role requires a minimum of 3 hours and up to 6 hours a week on Thursdays. The commitment can be from 1-4 times a month in rotation with other chefs.
