The Greenwich Tourist Information (GTI) is a service provided by Visit Greenwich, Royal Borough of Greenwich Destination Management Company. We are Visit England Official Partner and are committed to the best practices across the national network of Tourist Information in England and Wales. •Handling customer enquiries over the counter, phone and by email. •Sales of maps, guides, books and attraction tickets. •Researching information from files, reference books and the Internet. •Checking, pricing and displaying merchandise and stock for sale. •Keeping information literature and stock up to date, maintaining the public displays. •Keeping the presentation and image of the centre clean, tidy and up to date. •Assisting with information provision, distribution and participation in out-of-centre activities if required. •Inputting and retrieving data. •Carrying out any other reasonable duties in line with the running of the centre. •Carrying out all duties in conformity with the Health and Safety Regulations and the Company’s Equal Opportunities Policy.

•Volunteers will be able to improve their knowledge of Greenwich destination as well as enhance customer service skills. •This is an opportunity to work at one of the best Tourist offices in England, learn its best practices and procedures as well as an opportunity for future employment referrals and references. •Volunteers will have the opportunity to learn from experienced Tourist Information Assistants and gain insights into alternative procedures and practices of its operations, including generating revenue, operating systems, etc. •The volunteering role will provide a valuable professional development opportunity for e.g. students or unemployed at no cost to them. •The role will increase confidence, enthusiasm and motivation for future work opportunities and further studies.
The timing of a placement can be flexible but ideally from 10am to 5pm, Monday to Sunday.
