Role Detail

Description

Our Detached Youth Workers take the mission of TYM into the local community. We work in the local parks providing some activities and support for our young people. This session happens weekly (currently on a Friday) From September 2021 we will be moving it to a Thursday between 7pm and 8pm all year round.

Why these skills are required

Volunteers should be able to relate to young people between the ages of 11 and 18 years, and have an understanding of the challenges they may face Volunteers must be willing to undertake an enhanced DBS check. Volunteers should ideally have an understanding of the Christian faith or be willing to learn and be mindful that TYM is a Christian based youth project. Volunteers should be young at heart and full of energy. Volunteers should be willing to become a mentor and role model for our young people.

Volunteers will get a sense of achievement making a difference within the community. Volunteers will be trained in Safeguarding, First Aid and other courses related to the position. Volunteers will get the opportunity to learn from our young people and other volunteers. Volunteers will be issued with PPE relevant to their role.
