Role Detail

Description

We have six busy charity shops across Barking, Dagenham, Hornchurch and Upminster. Each shop relies on teams of volunteers to keep us trading. Our Retail Assistants work with the shop manager to prepare goods for sale, create window dressings and displays, assist customers, operate the cash register and process Gift Aid donations, as well as carrying out general housekeeping and cleaning. How much time will it take? We operate on a flexible shift basis, with a shift usually lasting about 4 hours, or as agreed with the Shop Manager. At least one shift per week is ideal to keep your skills up to date and to assist with the running of the shop.

Why these skills are required

We are looking for people who are friendly, polite and respectful and enjoy engaging with our customers. You will need to be punctual and reliable and willing to learn new skills and get involved. You also need to be able to work individually as well as part of a team. Experience of shop work is beneficial, but not essential, as training is provided.
