Role Detail

Description

The Listening Place is a volunteer-led charity aiming to transform how we support people who feel suicidal. We are currently seeking people to join our team as Helping Volunteers. Helping Volunteers are a vital part of shifts here at The Listening Place; in this role, you will be responsible for welcoming visitors onto our premises, providing a warm and welcoming atmosphere (along with a cup of tea), and supporting our Listening Volunteers to help everything run smoothly.

Why these skills are required

It is important that you are proactive, reliable, a self-starter and a team player. A basic understanding of IT is also required. We will provide training of our systems. No formal qualifications are necessary for the role.

Time Commitment

No prior experience or qualifications are necessary, but we do ask for a weekly commitment of four hours for a period of at least six months. If you are passionate about helping others and making a difference in the lives of those in need, we would love to have you on board as a Helping Volunteer.

We welcome all people over the age of 18 to apply to volunteer - no qualifications or specific experience are necessary. We are looking for warmth, empathy, resilience and a non judgemental approach. Our volunteers also need to be able to access our sites, as we are a face to face service.
