We are looking for a Project volunteer to assist the Lead Youth worker in providing a range of activities for young people 10 years to 18 years in a community-based youth centre in Bromley North. As a volunteer you will build relationships with the young people and help them engage with the activities on offer and to talk about issues that matter to them. To help young people to use the equipment at the centre, also help them to discover and develop new skills and talents and social skills. Give support to young people with their homework. Working with young people who may be in challenging circumstances to improve their life chances and helping them to avoid involvement in anti-social behaviour.
We are looking for volunteers interested in working alongside young people and can offer a range of different skills and interests. We run a Homework Club on 3 afternoons a week, on a Monday - Wednesday afternoon. We have various craft activities, cooking sessions, debates etc. We also run clubs in the evenings, some of these focus on music and other activities include workshops, dance, singing and drama etc. On a Thursday afternoon we run a transitional club working with those in year 6 and year 7 helping them to cope with the move from primary to secondary school.
Being supported by Youth Work team and gaining new skills. Training, appropriate to the role.
This depends but minimum of 2 hours per session, but could be more, if required.
