Role Detail

Description

Support families with children with complex medical needs by helping families access and use our Sensory Centre in Orpington Role responsibilities: · Open up our Sensory Centre prior to the families arriving · Welcome families and children on the day and show them sensory areas and equipment they can use · Clean all sensory areas and equipment before arrival of families and in between sessions and at the end of use · Undertake The Maypole Project initial training (half day) · Attend a training update session once per year · Follow The Maypole Project policies and guidelines at all times whilst volunteering

Why these skills are required

No previous experience is needed for this role as training is provided but we need volunteers with the following skills: Able to volunteer independently Approachable Ability to empathise with families in difficult situations Discreet and able to adhere to confidentiality procedures Commitment to equal opportunities and a non-judgmental attitude Reliable and punctual

Time Commitment

Sensory Centre sessions currently take place during the weekend between 10am and 3pm and weekdays after school hours from 4pm to 6pm. The volunteer would be asked to attend a briefing session before starting and also would be asked to shadow a volunteer at a session as well.
