London Open Gardens Weekend Volunteer
London Open Gardens
Welcome visitors, check tickets, answer questions, ensure that the garden is treated with respect.
London Open Gardens 2025 will take place over 7-8 June. The weekend is a celebration of London’s private green spaces and their contribution to urban living. Run by the charity London Parks and Gardens, it showcases managed landscapes, their creation, management and contribution to our lives, and is a key fundraiser for the charity, helping us to continue our work of defending heritage parks and spaces. Basic IT skills - internet & email
Volunteers will need to be comfortable interacting with members of the general public to check tickets, managing potentially long queues of visitors, and operating a ticket reader machine. Full training will be provided via online sessions.
All volunteers will receive a free weekend ticket, worth £24 at full price. Highlights from this year’s programme include: 30 Cannon Street, an impressive triangle-shaped roof garden in the City with captivating views of St Paul’s Cathedral, the Square Mile, London and beyond; Moat Community Garden, Millbank, where local people have used the remains of the former prison moat to create a green space for the community; and The Sanctuary Garden at Freedom from Torture, a silver medal winner at the Chelsea Flower Show 2024, now relocated to Finsbury Park where it is being used for horticultural and other therapies for survivors of torture. You can find the list of participating gardens on our website: https://londongardenstrust.org/log2025/grid-boro.html.
London Open Gardens Weekend takes place Saturday 7 - Sunday 8 June 2025. We ask each volunteer to give one morning or afternoon of their time over that weekend. Gardens are usually open 10am-5pm, but some timings may vary. We'll ask you to indicate your availability when you register with us.
