Volunteer Centre Greenwich
Volunteer Mentors are required to provide support for clients with learning disabilities to take part in volunteering opportunities.
Volunteer Mentors are required to provide support for clients with learning disabilities to take part in volunteering opportunities. Full training, including a L2 accredited qualification in Mentoring, will be available for all mentors, and regular support and supervision will be provided by the programme co-ordinator. Mentors are not required to have any previous experience in mentoring but a positive attitude, friendly manner, understanding of confidentiality and preferably some awareness of different learning disabilities would all be desirable. Volunteer mentors need to be able to commit to the programme for at least 6 months, with a minimum commitment of 3 hours per week. Once trained, volunteer mentors will be matched to clients with learning disabilities to support them in securing and carrying out a volunteering opportunity which suits them (often accompanying them to the volunteering position on a regular basis) and furthers their long-term objectives.
