Help run our train-play sessions for autistic, ADHD and SEND children. Sessions are relaxed and child-led, no experience needed, just patience and a willingness to follow the child's lead. Sessions run every 2nd Sunday, 10am-1pm, at Lochaber Hall, SE13.
On Track Lewisham is a train-play club for autistic, ADHD and SEND children in Lewisham, held at Lochaber Hall. Sessions are relaxed and child-led. No fixed programme, no pressure, just space for kids who love trains to play at their own pace. We're looking for volunteers to help sessions run smoothly. That means setting up track and trains beforehand, being a calm, friendly presence during the session, and helping kids and families feel welcome. No experience with autism or SEND is required. What matters is patience and a willingness to let kids lead. No formal qualifications or experience with autism, ADHD or SEND are needed. What matters is patience, a calm manner, and being comfortable letting a child play in their own way without directing them. You'll be working closely with children who may stim, need quiet breaks, or communicate differently, so an open, non-judgemental approach is important.
Experience supporting SEND children in a practical, hands-on setting. A chance to be part of a small, developing community project from early on. We're happy to provide a reference after a settling-in period. No DBS check required.
Sessions run every very 2nd Sunday, 10am to 1pm. You can sign up for as many sessions as you like.
