Car Drivers (using own car)
Ham and Petersham SOS
A vital role in helping older people remain independent. Volunteers drive our elderly, and disabled members, to and from appointments and activities in their own cars. This role is flexible.
We are looking for Volunteer car drivers to drive our elderly members, some with restricted mobility, to activities and social groups (including supermarket shopping trips). Being able to get from A to B can be challenging for some of our members who have health conditions or restricted mobility. As a Volunteer Driver, you will play an integral role in supporting our mission to help members be active, engaged and independent. Factors supporting an individual's health and wellbeing. This is a flexible role and ideal for someone who enjoys driving and meeting new people.
Driving (must have full driving license)
UK Driving Licence, People Skills
We are looking for people of all ages with a heart for older and or disabled people. You will need to be reliable, friendly and approachable and have empathy, compassion and patience. You will need a full, clean driving license and be prepared to ensure that your car insurance covers your voluntary work. Someone who has a genuine interest in helping people remain independent.
So many people don't have family who live close to them. We connect people who want to help, with people who need help. It's a win, win. Those who volunteer feel more engaged with the people within their own local communities. And those people who ask us for help are able to get to appointments, see their friends and get out and about.
