Hosting Project Leader

A Hosting Project Leader manages a small team of volunteers to help serve our guests and provide a warm, safe environment for FoodCycle Lewisham's community meal.

Detailed Description

Are you passionate about bringing people together over food and conversation? As a Hosting Project Leader, you’ll play a vital role in creating a warm, welcoming atmosphere for guests and volunteers alike. You’ll lead a small team to deliver a delicious three-course meal, helping to reduce loneliness and build a resilient, connected community in the process. This is a hands-on, rewarding opportunity where your energy and leadership will help turn a meal into a moment of belonging for everyone involved. What you’ll do: Lead hosting sessions alongside another Project Leader, managing a team of 4 volunteers to deliver a smooth, timely dining experience. Ensure food safety protocols are followed as outlined in the training materials. Induct and welcome new volunteers, giving them a clear overview of the session structure, venue layout, safety information, and their role. Foster a positive team culture, encouraging everyone to contribute to a friendly and inclusive environment for guests. Manage guest flow, including welcoming guests, supporting queue organisation, and ensuring everyone understands the project agreement. Collect key data and complete session reports via the Project Leader portal. Support guest wellbeing, including awareness of allergens and signposting Stay connected with the wider team by attending online meetings and occasional in-person events. What We’re Looking For: No prior hosting or hospitality experience needed – just a love of food, people, and community spirit.
