Support Group facilitator by encouraging people living with dementia to take part in activities at group sessions. Also support carers in training sessions.
Support the group facilitator for in-person peer support meetings. Your involvement as a Group Support Volunteer will enable people affected by dementia to engage in activities to support their wellbeing, to receive the support they need and to socialise in a welcoming and relaxed environment. Welcoming and talking to people affected by dementia, enabling them to feel comfortable and included. • Helping to set up the location and tidying away at the end of the group. • Preparing and distributing refreshments. • Encouraging and supporting people affected by dementia to participate in activities at the group location. • Referring group participants to Society staff for further support as appropriate

People skills, empathy and patience. Lived experience of a caring or working with someone with dementia will be helpful but not necessary. Good communication skills
We will make you feel welcome, included and respected. • You will receive training, ongoing supervision and support. • You can claim pre-agreed out of pocket expenses (e.g. travel) in line with our policy. • We’ll keep you up to date with relevant policies and procedures that apply to your role. • You’ll have access to learning, development and engagement opportunities.

We run a group at the Bellingham Leisure Centre and also at St Mary Centre Ladywell and St Laurences Catford. Its Lewisham wide.
