Boat guide
London Canal Museum
Guiding and crewing on the museum's boat trips.
We are looking for enthusiastic and reliable volunteers to serve as boat guides on Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, and Sundays between April and October, with the potential for additional trips outside of this timeframe. As a volunteer boat guide, you will be responsible for welcoming passengers onto the boat, guiding, crewing and serving a hot drink to passengers using an urn. The museum will provide training in guiding and content for volunteers, as well as some additional emergency boat steering training.

We run regular social events for volunteers at the museum, including a summer boat trip, Christmas party, museum visits and walks. Volunteers at the museum are also able to earn Tempo Time Credits every time they volunteer, allowing them to spend these points with various services and activities such as gyms, cinemas and museums.
Shifts are offered on a rota based system, with shifts given out as equally as possible amongst the volunteer guides. Guides can offer to sign up to as many or as few shifts as they would like, with shifts ranging from 1 hour, to 5 hours. Volunteers can do as little as 1-2 hours a month, up to as much as they are able to offer.
