Pets as Therapy Volunteers interact with patients and those important to them on our In-Patient Unit and those attending our Wellbeing Centre. where someone has expressed an interest in meeting a pet. Pets as Therapy volunteers and their pets provide comfort companionship and therapy to our patients and those important to them helping them engage in memories and stories of their own animals or simply enjoying an interaction with pets.
Pets as Therapy Volunteers usually offer support with their pet once a week for up to 3 hours at a time . This is just a general guide and can be more often. DUTIES • Visit patients with your therapy trained and registered pet as directed by the Nurse in charge of IPU or the Wellbeing Centre Facilitators • Support interactions with your pet with sensitivity, ensuring you have a patient or those important to them’ s consent • Engage with patients and those important to them in conversation as appropriate. • Ensure you pet is on a lead • Attend a briefing session prior to each session and a debrief at the end. • Discuss any concerns observations or changes in a patient with our clinical staff

➢ Lots of FUN and being part of a friendly team. ➢ It will allow you to get involved in your local community and meet new friends. ➢ We will provide a reference. ➢ We will reimburse reasonable out of pocket travel and parking expenses. ➢ We will provide lunch and other refreshments.
1-3 hours per week but can be flexible depending upon your availability.

St. Raphael's is located on London Road on the same site as Spire St. Anthony's Hospital. Buses 93, 413 stop outside the entrance to the site. We have plenty of parking on site - please turn left immediately on entering the site on London Road and our parking bays are clearly marked. Please enter your vehicle registration in the tablet at our main reception for free parking for 24 hours.
