Detailed Description

The Timebank is a project of Lewisham Local and one of the oldest social prescribing projects in the Borough. Our aim is to connect people who come to us with each other to swap skills, make new friends and increase connections. Our members come from all walks of life the majority however consists of older people. We have several groups, such as a knitting & crochet group, an arts group, a board games club and a choir. Timings are: Monday- Choir 1-2 pm Wednesday – Tea & Chat 2-4 Friday Art- 10.30-12.30 Friday Coffee Club and Boardgames – 11-12.30 All groups meet at Orchard Gardens Community Centre, Columbine Way, SE13 7LQ We are looking for a volunteer who enjoys talking to people to make them feel welcome and at ease and if you have any skills in arts, crafts or other activities that you’d like to share with the groups but this is not essential. We are looking for a volunteer in particular to support our largest group on Wednesday, but the other groups also need support.

Why these skills are required

Tasks: · Welcoming people to the groups · Making teas & coffees · Welcoming new members to the groups · Support with setting up the room and tidying after the groups · Help with the collection of data from group members · Help to promote Time Bank activities to new and existing members · Help with planning and delivering annual events · Reporting safeguarding concerns to senior staff · Contribute to Lewisham Locals organisational aims, promoting diversity and inclusivity · Welcoming external visitors to the group and sharing the work of the Time Bank About You: · An interest in bringing Lewisham’s community together · An enthusiasm to share your skills and knowledge · Able to work independently · Good listener with good interpersonal skills · Able to support people from diverse backgrounds including people from different ethnicity groups, religious beliefs, disability and sexuality · Reliable and punctual

Time Commitment
