The MND Community Engagement Volunteer will raise awareness of MND within the local community.
Do you want to engage with and help your local community? Community champions at the MND Association will work wit local communities to raise awareness of MND and help to reach those people who are not aware of the associations services. There will be a Particular focus will be on engagement with Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic (BAME) people, young people, LGBT people, and Disabled people. Our aim is to ensure that no one faces MND alone by ensuring that all barriers to participation are broken down. There are a number of ways in which you can get involved for example: • Talking with local communities and attending local events • Providing information on issues facing people affected by MND • Increasing the awareness of MND amongst local communities • Building partnerships with local groups who can assist in raising awareness and collaboration. • Championing diversity within the local branch or group and helping to enhance inclusivity. • Working with volunteers and staff to address any activities that make it hard for people to volunteer or use Association services. This role will suit you if you: • Have knowledge of or a willingness to learn about MND • Have good listening, presentation, networking and communication skills • Have a desire to ensure that the Association is inclusive and accessible to all • Have an interest in equality, diversity and inclusion What’s in it for me? • Brilliant opportunity to develop public speaking and networking skills • Opportunity to join our wonderful local volunteering team • Chance to get to know your local community better How flexible is the role? This will very much depend on you. We anticipate a minimum of 4 hours a month. You will also need to undertake induction and training for the role, most of which can be organised to suit you.
