Join LYT as a workshop assistant to help and support young people aged 8-25 in Lewisham
What will the Volunteer Workshop Assistant do: Work with Lead Facilitators helping plan workshops, and providing pastoral care to young people (YP) Help YP to develop social skills Help with warm-up exercises and support small groups Attend debriefs Encourage YP to engage in the sessions Support to get refreshments, checking YP & out, greeting parents etc Ensure the safety of YP Supporting during performances, including reading lines, manage props etc. Helping clear up after sessions

Skills and Commitment: Some training and/or experience in youth arts or creative youth work An interest in supporting young people to reach their creative potential Commitment to keeping young people safe and ability to follow LYT’s procedures for Safeguarding, Anti-Bullying, Equal Opportunities and Data Protection. As this role includes contact with children and young people, you will need to hold a recent DBS check or be willing to undertake one.
Training: Training will take the form of learning facilitation skills through practice. Volunteers will be guided and lead through the following: skills in facilitation and leading group activities working with young people according to their needs running drama games administrating drama workshops building relationships with parents safeguarding training evaluating a session tracking individual participants’ progress the opportunity will often include other skills the individual volunteer is interested in learning, such as administration or production
We run sessions after school from 4:30pm until 8pm on week days, we tend to run projects for 5 - 12 weeks at time and ask that volunteers commit to one project during that time.
