Support the organisation and delivery of activity days for children with complex medical needs and their siblings.

Detailed Description

Support the organisation and delivery of activity days and outings for children with complex medical needs and their siblings. Activities could include arts and crafts, sports, sensory play, soft play and music. Role responsibilities: • Help with the set up and clearing away of activities for the day • Welcome families and children on the day • Support children with complex medical needs and their siblings with activities, either 1:1 or in a group depending on the needs of the children attending • Participate in a briefing and de-briefing before and after the day • Undertake The Maypole Project initial training (half day) • Follow The Maypole Project policies and guidelines at all times whilst volunteering Location: Opportunities are available in the London Borough of Bromley Time commitment: Activity days take place in school holidays and occasionally during term-time in the evening. We ask our volunteers to aspire to volunteering for 10 days or more a year if possible and to attend training.

Why these skills are required

No previous experience is required for this role as training is provided but we would be keen to hear from volunteers with one or more of the following: - counselling and/or childcare qualifications - first aid training - experience of working with children and young people - ability to empathise with families in difficult situations - discreet and able to adhere to confidentiality procedures - commitment to equal opportunities and a non-judgmental attitude
