At Sutton Vision our team of volunteers are an essential part of our organisation, enabling us to provide a wide range of services to our visually impaired service users. If you love chat then our telephone befriending role could be for you. This role provides a link to the outside world for those who have experienced sight loss. By telephoning someone once a week, you can support them in breaking social isolation.
Telephone Befriending Volunteer Role At Sutton Vision our team of volunteers are an essential part of our organisation, enabling us to provide a wide range of services to our visually impaired service users. If you love chat then our telephone befriending role could be for you. This role provides a link to the outside world for those who have experienced sight loss. By telephoning someone once a week, you can support them in breaking social isolation. We are looking for friendly, reliable individuals who have strong communication and listening skills. The role can be carried out at our premises or remotely. All telephone calls should wherever possible take place between the hours of 9.30am and 3.30pm, Monday to Friday, this will ensure that Sutton Vision staff can address any issues that may arise. We will also provide you with a simple process for out of hours too. Time Commitment: This role requires a weekly commitment at a time to be agreed by both you and our client. We will regularly make contact with you both to see how the relationship is building and would ask you to commit to a weekly call for the minimum 12 weeks. Benefits: Sutton Vision is committed to developing and supporting our volunteers by providing our volunteer induction this will give an overview of the Volunteer Handbook including Sutton Vision services, safeguarding & boundaries. We will pay expenses should you incur costs for your volunteering calls and travel expenses to attend training (45p per mile). We will process your volunteer DBS. A reference can be obtained from Sutton Vision after 1 year of volunteering. Think you might be interested in volunteering for us? Weekly phone calls for approximately 1 hour with a time commitment of 12 weeks.
