Sutton Vision

Would you like to support visually impaired people in your local community? If you have spare time, your own transport and a full clean driving licence we are looking for Volunteer Drivers to take members to social events, activities and outings in the borough.

Detailed Description

Volunteer Driver Role Sutton Vision is a local sight loss charity that supports people who are blind or partially sighted. Everyone's sight loss journey is different and that's why we provide a wide range of services to enable people with sight loss to continue to live full and independent lives. We have a wide range of volunteering opportunities in our friendly team, find out more below. If you have spare time, your own transport and a full clean driving licence, we are looking for Volunteer Drivers to take members to social events, activities and outings in the borough. We offer a 2-hour induction training which is both practical and interactive and covers sight loss conditions and sight guide training. Time commitment for this volunteering role is usually on an ad hoc basis depending on what suits you. This role will require an Enhanced DBS at no cost to the volunteer. Why these skills are required

Experienced driver with own transport for volunteering purposes, full clean driving licence and fully insured. ABILITIES AND SKILLS 1. Ability to understand and respond sensitively to the needs of visually impaired people 2. Ability to drive cars under UK legislation with current and valid motor vehicle insurance 3. Reliability 4. Flexibility 5. Good verbal communication skills 6. Ability to demonstrate patience when working with individuals 7. Ability to work as an individual or as part of a team

Time Commitment

2 hours per week, fortnight or month depending on availability.
