one-to-one support e to newly arrived migrant girls ages 11-19 with their academics
Your role is to provide one-to-one support and guidance to newly arrived migrant girls ages 11-19 who may require extra assistance with their academics. By offering academic support in a wide range of subjects, you will contribute to empowering young girls to achieve their full potential and give newly arrived girls the confidence needed to thrive in a formal school setting. As many of these girls are still learning English, you will also help to empower them by providing support in developing their English language skills in a fun and positive setting.
Befriending, Buddying & Mentoring
Basic IT skills - internet & email, Language Skills, Reading & Writing
Good academic background with GSCE or degree-level education, particularly in Maths, English, and Science, to provide competent academic support. Excellent interpersonal skills to establish rapport and build trust with mentees, creating a supportive and encouraging environment for learning. Patience and empathy to understand the unique needs and challenges faced by each mentee and provide effective support and guidance. Ability to motivate and empower mentees, instilling a sense of confidence. • Ability to speak Spanish or Arabic is highly desired, as many of the girls use these as their first languages.
