Age UK East London exists to promote the well-being of all older people in Hackney and support them in making later life a fulfilling and enjoyable experience. As an Information & Advice Volunteer, you'll support older people to access information, advice, activities and services.
Age UK East London exists to promote the well-being of all older people in Hackney and support them in making later life a fulfilling and enjoyable experience. We are looking for friendly, approachable volunteers who enjoy helping people and making a positive difference in their community. Information and Advice volunteers help older people access the information, advice and support they need to stay independent, connected and well. As an Information & Advice Volunteer with Age UK East London, you'll assist with telephone and email enquiries, triage referrals, explore wider support needs and signpost people to relevant services and activities. You'll gain valuable experience, training and support while making a meaningful difference to the lives of older people across East London. We are looking for people who have: • A friendly, warm and approachable manner • Good listening and communication skills • A genuine interest in helping older people • Able to communicate with a wide range of people in person, by telephone, and via email. • Basic computer, and record-keeping skills • Reliability and a willingness to learn • An understanding of confidentiality and professional boundaries No two days are the same. One day you may help somebody access benefits advice; another day you might connect someone to an exercise class, digital support session, community activity or specialist service that improves their wellbeing and independence.
