Hands-on Trustee with Climate Action Community Group

EcoCounts

Do you have the organisation skills to manage a small climate action group, overseeing the governance, policy and finances, and listening to the all those involved to try to find the best way forward? You'd have the support of the group and be the centre of our operations. Come along and get to know us and we you before you take on the challenge.

Detailed Description

What will you be doing? We are currently small, volunteer-led, agile, pragmatic and ambitious. We achieve what we do with minimal funds. We would like to appoint trustees who are keen to help drive EcoCounts forward through active involvement in what is an exciting time to get involved. Our goals for the next 12 months are: · to continue building our local group of activists from all sections of society who monitor their carbon emissions, treat it like a budget, as part of a self-supporting group that focuses on all things to do with sustainability · to run a crowd-funder at Christmas · to accelerate development of a carbon footprint app for our data · to extend our audience in the media and social media · to build relationships and new, innovative ways of collaborating with local businesses and local government · to create a blueprint which can be adopted in other locations · promote public, business, academic and political acceptance of carbon budgets · demonstrate that our approach is potentially a break-through for the climate crisis. What are we looking for? You don't need to tick every box below, if you are someone with real strength in two or three areas and the appetite to learn the rest alongside us. · You understand charity governance, policies, trustee duties, the legal landscape. · You can think strategically about what makes a small charity work: fundraising, marketing, volunteer management, finance, business planning. · You communicate easily and openly, whether in person, messaging, or by email. · You work co-operatively. We make decisions together. There are two important things we need: · You live in Westminster, Camden, Islington, Hackney, Haringey or the City. Our whole model depends on local roots, i.e. the councillors you can reach, the businesses you know, the neighbourhood you can speak for. A trustee outside these boroughs simply can't bring what this role needs. · You're free most Monday evenings. We meet in person, every week, and that rhythm is why a volunteer-led group with almost no money gets as much done as we do. It's also where the momentum and the friendships come from.
