Are you looking to volunteer with young people aged 10-12 or 12-18? Would you like to help to launch young people for life, while enhancing your skills, boosting your self-esteem and meeting new people? We're looking for regular Cadet Team Members to help us run our fantastic cadet activities! No experience is needed and we provide the training.
Clapton and Hackney Sea Cadets is growing, and we are seeking volunteers who are interested in working with young people, to continue delivering our safe and supportive activities. Whether you opt to be a uniformed leader, or wear your own clothes, you can be hands-on, teaching cadets. You'll run lessons, activities, games, projects and events that help cadets progress through The Cadet Experience, gaining qualifications and confidence as they go. We meet every Friday, from 6:45pm – 9:00pm. We encourage flexible volunteering – you decide how often you’d like to volunteer! • Junior Cadet Team Member – Running activities for young people aged 10-11. • Sea Cadet Team Member – Delivering training and instruction to young people aged 12-18. Your experience and skills will be essential to help young people flourish – water sports, catering, meteorology, sailing theory, navigation, first aid, engineering, photography, marketing, football coaching, IT, social media, driving - there is no limit. Whatever your interest, you could bring it to Clapton and Hackney Sea Cadets. We’ll provide you with all the equipment, training and the opportunity to gain national water sport qualifications, if you fancy. All you need is lots of enthusiasm! The tasks of a Cadet Team Member (Instructor) include: • Promoting and safeguarding the welfare of Children and Young People for whom they are responsible. • Delivering activities and training to cadets and adults. • Attending on Friday evenings, or being able to commit to a particular night each week or month.

If you think the person specification below sounds like you, then please get in touch: • You are a great problem-solver and can think outside the box. • You have some experience, or would like to gain some experience, working or volunteering with young people. • You enjoy working as part of a team and independently. • You have the ability to recognise the learning needs of each young person. • You are reliable, honest and trustworthy. • You are a good communicator. • You will be a role model to young people.
Volunteering with Sea Cadets has so many benefits. Including giving back to the community, helping young people grow into adults and gaining qualifications to teach different courses we have to offer. We provide all the training and opportunities you need, free-of-charge. We have 2 groups of cadets who come from all over the area and from all walks of life. You would help make a positive difference to teenagers who often struggle in today’s world and their communities. Without support from volunteers like you, our charity cannot provide the adventure, community, and opportunities that young people experience through the Sea Cadets.
We meet every Friday, 6:45pm - 9:00pm. We encourage volunteers to choose their commitment - whether you're at the unit every week or once a month, your skills and experience will be very welcome.
