Detailed Description

Children with Voices started over 20 years ago with one woman, a community hall and a belief that no child in Hackney should be forgotten. Our founder Michelle began with a Winter Wonderland for local children at London Fields School, covered by the Hackney Gazette, after being named Family Mosaic Inspirational Tenant of the Year. Today we are a registered charity at Fawcett Estate Community Hall in Clapton, running a Community Food Hub, Jumping Beans, SEND support, alternative education and work in local schools. Over 100,000 children and families have come through our doors. We are looking for a volunteers to support us with a variety of media related roles including social media, marketing and PR. We are looking for someone with passion and confidence to bring people together. You could be a retired professional wanting to use their skills gained or a student/graduate ready to put their skills into practise. Each of the roles will have different duties and responsibilities. Social media and marketing duties and responsibilities: • Leading and coordinating our established team of content volunteers, including our graphic designer, TikTok creator, LinkedIn manager and website manager, so everyone is pulling in the same direction • Shaping the monthly content plan across all our programmes and platforms, and keeping our voice warm, honest and consistent, never corporate • Creating content yourself where needed, working from photos and footage our team provides, and having a relaxed monthly catch up about what is working • Protecting children at all times, working within our safeguarding and volunteer policies, which we will walk you through. We never post a child's image without proper consent. PR and media responsibilities: • Building relationships with journalists, local papers, radio, podcasts and community platforms • Writing press releases and statements, and getting them to the right people at the right time • Finding the stories worth telling across our programmes and turning them into coverage • Setting up interviews and media opportunities, and preparing Michelle and the team for them • Keeping a record of coverage so we can show funders and partners the reach we have • Working within our safeguarding policies at all times. We never share a child's image or story without proper consent. Partnerships and campaigns volunteer responsibilities: • Approaching local businesses, schools and organisations about working with us • Finding sponsorship and collaboration opportunities and following them through properly • Planning campaigns that raise our profile across our programmes, from the Food Hub and SEND support to youth work and alternative education • Working with our social media team so campaigns land well across every platform • Keeping our brand and message consistent, so we look like one organisation wherever people find us • Keeping a simple record of partners and conversations, so nothing is lost and nobody is asked twice We would be looking for prospective volunteers to give between 4-8 hours per week. We would love 6 months or more, so you can see your impact but there is no obligation for this. These roles allow you to get your name on real coverage for a cause that deserves it alongside proper support, so you are never left to figure it out alone.
