Children with Voices started over 20 years ago with one woman, a community hall and a belief that no child in Hackney should be forgotten. We are looking for a volunteers with a variety of experience to support with our project management and coordination of the Jumping Beans programme.
Children with Voices started over 20 years ago with one woman, a community hall and a belief that no child in Hackney should be forgotten. Our founder Michelle began with a Winter Wonderland for local children at London Fields School, covered by the Hackney Gazette, after being named Family Mosaic Inspirational Tenant of the Year. Today we are a registered charity at Fawcett Estate Community Hall in Clapton, running a Community Food Hub, Jumping Beans, SEND support, alternative education and work in local schools. Over 100,000 children and families have come through our doors. We are looking for a volunteers with a variety of experience to support with our project management and coordination of the Jumping Beans programme. We are looking for an experienced project or programme manager, retired or between roles, who has led teams and delivered on a schedule. As our project manager, your duties and responsibilities will include: • Taking ownership of delivery across Jumping Beans, our SEND support and Community Food Hub events • Leading and supporting the volunteers and staff delivering each programme, so everyone knows their part • Planning sessions and events properly, from staffing and resources to timings and setup • Making sure safeguarding and health and safety requirements are met before every session, without exception • Keeping simple records of attendance and outcomes, so we can show funders what we achieved • Working closely with our Project Coordinator and handing over clearly when you are not there As a project management volunteer you will need: - Real project or programme management experience and the confidence to lead a team. - Organisation, because several things run at once. - Sound judgement about children's safety, as you will be responsible for sessions where children are present. - Absolute reliability, because families plan their week around us. If project management does not work for you, we are also looking for a project coordinator to support the project manager to keep Jumping Beans, our SEND support and Food Hub events running smoothly, and it is a proper way into programme work if you are building experience. As a project coordinator we would be looking for someone who is organised and hands on. A student or graduate wanting real experience with children's programmes, a parent who knows this community, or a retired professional who would enjoy being part of the day itself rather than the planning of it. Duties and responsibilities would include: • Helping set up and run sessions and events, so everything is ready before families arrive • Keeping registers, attendance records and resource lists accurate and up to date • Supporting the volunteers on the day and making sure newcomers know what to do • Passing on anything that needs attention, including any safeguarding concern, straight away • Helping gather feedback from families so we know what is working • Stepping in to cover simple coordination tasks when the Project Manager is not there In order to be successful as a project coordinator you will need: - Reliability above all, because families and volunteers are counting on the session happening. - Warmth with children and parents. - Basic comfort with registers, records and email. You do not need previous experience with children's programmes, and we will train you. We would ask volunteers to give 4-8 hours of their time each week depending on the role that is carried out. We would love 6 months or more, so you can see your impact but there is no obligation for this.
