CEO Support Volunteer
Children with Voices
Children with Voices started over 20 years ago with one woman, a community hall and a belief that no child in Hackney should be forgotten. We are looking for a volunteer to support our CEO, Michelle, with managing her diary, arranging meetings and protecting time for the work that matters most.
Children with Voices started over 20 years ago with one woman, a community hall and a belief that no child in Hackney should be forgotten. Our founder Michelle began with a Winter Wonderland for local children at London Fields School, covered by the Hackney Gazette, after being named Family Mosaic Inspirational Tenant of the Year. Today we are a registered charity at Fawcett Estate Community Hall in Clapton, running a Community Food Hub, Jumping Beans, SEND support, alternative education and work in local schools. Over 100,000 children and families have come through our doors. We are looking for a volunteer to support our CEO, Michelle, with a variety of tasks. Who this role suits: A retired PA, executive assistant or office manager who has supported a senior leader before. You will be comfortable with a busy diary, competing priorities and knowing what needs attention first. Absolute confidentiality is essential. Duties and responsibilities: • Managing Michelle's diary, arranging meetings and protecting time for the work that matters most • Helping keep her inbox under control, drafting replies and flagging what needs her personally • Preparing papers and notes ahead of meetings, and writing up actions afterwards • Following up on actions so commitments do not quietly slip • Keeping records and correspondence organised and easy to find • Working within our data protection policy at all times, as you will see confidential information We would be looking for the prospective volunteer to give 6-8 hours a week, with time in the office by agreement and would love a commitment of 6 months or more so you can see your impact. There is no obligation for this though. What you will need: Experience supporting a senior leader, or equivalent organisational ability. Strong written English and confidence drafting on someone else's behalf. Sound judgement about what is urgent. Complete discretion, because you will see sensitive information about staff, funders and families. What you will get from us: A close working relationship with our CEO and a real view of how a charity is run. Proper support, so you are never left to figure it out alone. A personal reference from Michelle, and the knowledge that you freed up the time that keeps this charity moving.
