Recruitment and Onboarding Volunteer
Children with Voices
Children with Voices started over 20 years ago with one woman, a community hall and a belief that no child in Hackney should be forgotten. We are looking for a recruitment and onboarding volunteer to support us. If you enjoy keeping things moving and making people feel looked after from their very first email, this role is for you.
Children with Voices started over 20 years ago with one woman, a community hall and a belief that no child in Hackney should be forgotten. Our founder Michelle began with a Winter Wonderland for local children at London Fields School, covered by the Hackney Gazette, after being named Family Mosaic Inspirational Tenant of the Year. Today we are a registered charity at Fawcett Estate Community Hall in Clapton, running a Community Food Hub, Jumping Beans, SEND support, alternative education and work in local schools. Over 100,000 children and families have come through our doors. We are looking for a recruitment and onboarding volunteer to support us. The right volunteer can change what we are able to do for children in Hackney. Finding those people, welcoming them and getting them started well is a job worth doing properly. If you enjoy keeping things moving and making people feel looked after from their very first email, this role is for you. Who this role suits: Someone organised who enjoys the practical side of recruitment. A retired HR or recruitment administrator, a student building real experience, or anyone who likes moving a process along and keeping people informed. You do not need to be an HR specialist. Duties and responsibilities: • Posting our volunteer roles on Indeed, CharityJob, LinkedIn, Reed and local Hackney channels, and keeping them up to date • Being the first point of contact for enquiries, answering questions and replying to everyone promptly • Keeping a simple tracker of applicants so nobody is forgotten or contacted twice • Arranging interviews around Michelle's diary and sending out the joining details • Chasing references and completing onboarding paperwork so new volunteers can start without delay • Working within our data protection policy, as you will handle personal information about applicants We would be looking for the prospective volunteer to give 4-6 hours a week and would love a commitment of 6 months or more so you can see your impact. There is no obligation for this though. What you will need: Organisation and follow through, because recruitment lives or dies on the reply that does or does not get sent. Comfort with email, documents and spreadsheets. Warmth in writing, since you will often be someone's first impression of us. Discretion with personal information. What you will get from us: Real ownership of a process from advert to first day. Proper support, so you are never left to figure it out alone. Direct working relationship with our CEO. A personal reference from Michelle, and recruitment experience you can point to.
